Sorry I haven’t been able to update in a while. I’ve been battling to keep my food down and in for over a week. On Saturday, April 1 (with the doc’s permission), we suspended the last few days of the oral chemo I’m on for the current round. I was worried about being able to go on Sunday, and am thankful I was able to do so.
However, my hopes that simply being off of all chemotherapies would quell the intestinal maladies were not realized. On Tuesday, April 4, I went in for an infusion of fluids and a mega-dose of anti-nausea medication, intravenously administered. They also changed my anti-nausea prescription for use at home, and that combination seems to largely have done the trick for the nausea. I’m still queasy, but have not vomited since before Tuesday’s treatment.
The intestinal receiving department squared away, the shipping department remains out of control. Bananas, rice, applesauce, Gatorade, Imodium – nothing seems to help. I’m currently waiting for a call from the doctor for what to do from here. I also put in a request to delay the beginning of my next 21-day round from April 10 to 17. It’s already Thursday of my “week off,” and I can hardly imagine doing this all over again in just a few days. Seems to me like I could use some good days of body-rest and rejuvenation before jumping back in, having lost 18 pounds since March 20. Plus, with Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday coming up, it would be good to feel more up-to-speed on those special days for our church. Anyway, those were my arguments. We’ll see how the doctor sees it shortly.
Thank you so much for your love and your prayers.
